:gotme

HELP bit of brain fade came on. I have rebuilt my rear subframe on 350z and am in process of fitting adj rear springs & adj shocks. I need to know do i adj shocks for ride height first and then adj springs to take up play in lower arm? or do i adj coils for ride height and then fit shocks to suit? I have separate coil springs from the dampers not full coilovers.
help help .

You can't adjust ride height with shocks. You can only set the damper rate. You need coilovers if you want to be able to adjust.

I'm confused as to what you have, then. You said you don't have coilovers, but you have adjustable ride height? Do you happen to have something like this?

If that's the case, set your ride height with the wheel hanging, then use a floor jack to get everything back into place in order to bolt everything back up. The struts will compress.

I don't recommend using that suspension setup, though. Adjustable ride height on spring and separate shock does not do well for lowered applications. Very dangerous. A legitimate coilover is much safer.

Hello the picture you show is correct except the dampers are threaded so you can adjust the bottom yoke. I thought the best way to adjust the set up Would be to adjust ride height with spring and then adjust damper so it is partially compressed (1/3) to allow proper movement of damper. Does this make sense?

Keep in mind, when you put weight back on the ground, the damper will be even more compressed, so you don't wanna take it in too far in the air.
