Ok. So I had the X-Lights that Generic vouched for and I don't know if it's just the ballast or my fault... but the passenger side burned out. Here's my story...

A couple weeks ago, I washed my car. It had gotten pretty late and was dark by the time I finished. I took my car for a spin and when I got back my gf said, "Hey, your light doesn't work." I looked and I was like, .

I just left it since it was dark and I really didn't check it out because a couple of days later, it turned out again. So all was well. This lasted like a week until I washed my car again. Again, it was dark when I finished... and the light did not turn on again.

It's been a week this time and the light has not turned on again by itself like it did the first time. So today, with the help of my friend, we took off the bumper so I could get a better look at everything, (Last time I did it through the wheel whell). I found that the wire, the one that connects the factory harness to the ballast... the point where there wire connects to the ballast looked like it was rusted. We came to the conclusion that somehow water got into that connection and it just fried it. The prongs coming out of the ballast and the connectors of the wire both look orange and rusty. So I decided to put the halogens back in because I didn't want to keep risking driving with only one headlight.

So I took the HID's out and put the halogens back on the driver side... no prob. Works fine. When I do it on the passenger side... the light didn't work. So our other conclusion... the factory harness on the passenger side is fried.

I purchased this relay and was planning on installing it today but once I saw that they were rusted... I knew it was no point. However, I did try to install this to bypass the fried factory harness... but I couldn't get it to work.

We did the two connections to the neg and pos terminals of the battery. Connected E to the GOOD factory harness from the driver side, and D to the two ballast, no good.

I need some help.

So right now I'm running my two halogens, with the passenger side connected to the fried factory harness and not working obviously. Unless someone tells me otherwise, I'm going to go to the dealer next Thursday and act stupid and tell them my light is out.

SORRY FOR MY LONG *** POST.

I'm going to take another shot at fixing this on Saturday so any help or advice will be great.

Oh yea, sorry. Before anyone mentions this... it is not the HALOGEN bulb or the HID bulb that is burned out. Both the halogen and HID bulbs work on the driver's side... but not at all on the passenger side.

This same thing happened to me. I tested the power supply to the passenger headlight and it was shot. I ran a positive and negative from the driver's side power suppled, and ran it right below the top of the bumper to the passenger side and connected this power to the ballast instead of connecting the original power supply. I did this with my man Chad who works on my car. He said sometimes these cars can be configured so that you cannot change or alter the lighting, and this causes an override to cut power to the passenger side. But most likely, with my 2005 Sedan with 107K miles, it was rust as well. As soon as I ran these wires, I had no issues. The light has not gone out once, and I put in this HID kit about two months ago. Just make sure the connections are clean, and you definitely want to weather proof the connections with a few wraps of electrical taping. You won't notice any cutback in output do to the power supply running off only one original circuit.

Let me know if this works, or if you need further explaining hit me up at [email protected]

Good luck man

Thanks. After 70 views... someone actually tries to help me.

I'm going to try to relay thing again. I think the connection of the relay with the driver's side OEM harness didn't fit right. When I got it in the mail... the little 'adapter'(?) was not connected to the prongs. So I just slipped in the prongs any ol' way so I wouldn't lose the adapter. So I'm going to look at that.

That's fine trying the relay, but as long as the ballast came with your HID kit, you shouldn't need to run a power supply from the battery. I'm sure the instructions you received (I have McCullochs, so I'm not familiar with the brand you purchased) said that with some vehicles you may need to run a relay from the battery - this isn't needed for an Altima though. You can easily run that power supply from the driver's side. It's probably a more secure connection doing it this way than adding the relay. But whatever works for you works. As long as the headlight is operable. Let me know how it all plays out for you. Good luck.

Hmm... well in your post it seems like you DID add some sort of relay. Maybe I'm reading that wrong?

I did ORIGINALLY connect the HID ballasts directly to the OEM harness... but water got in and fried it. Now the OEM harness doesn't work. So I'm trying to run a relay.

So my car is at the dealer so they could do those two recalls I'm guessing everyone got. Since it was there... I told them my light just went out and I have no clue as to why.

They fixed it, it was just a fuse.

I shall hopefully re-install my fogs again this weekend.

Smooth move. Of course it was something simple that no one would think to check. Let's hope when u drop in the HIDs though, it doesn't blow the fuse.

Lmao, when I went... they said the fuse blew BECAUSE... I put; BLUE, AFTERMARKET LAMPS FOR THE TURNSIGNALS. Lmao, I wonder what they would've said if they had known I had HIDs.

He said, "We could technically charge you for it, but I told my manager... 'I'm gonna take care of this guy.' So we're sending it to Nissan as warranty work."

The advisor is cool.

Technically, I don't think it was SOLELY the HIDs fault... water got into the connection and that's why the fuse blew. I'll have to pick a better spot/weatherproof it better next time around. And now with the relay... the fuse on the relay should blow, not the one on the harness right?

Uh, yeeeaaah, that's beyond my electrical knowledge lolI plugged my shyt in and it didn't work, so I just ran power from the driver's side - probably the easiest and cheapest thing for me to do. Electrically, I am not inclined - I leave that to my MOD guy. I'd imagine though you'd prefer for neither to blow? lol

And they said it blew b/c of the turnsignals? lol

I hate that whenever I bring my car to a dealership, they are clueless. The manager at this one was like, "you will never be able to fit 18" rims on your car Enrique, it's just not made for them!" And another guy once said, young guy too, "you can't get HID if the car didn't come with them as stock". I can't find any shop in NJ that has any idea what they are doing with Nissans! It's like friggin domestic world around here. It makes me sick.

LMFAO! The 18"s in my sig were just engulfed by the car. HUUUUUGGGGGE wheeeel gap still remained.

Yeah, these guys weren't too bright. My car's not even modified that much. It just sounds similar to a Z and isn't a mom sedan, so everytime I go into a dealership, all the young salesmen have all these questions for me. I can't see how someone can sell Nissans and not be passionate enough about them to be familiar with common mod's. Obviously these guys were there just for their paycheck. The only thing I did have to do is roll the brims in my wheel wells b/c the tires were hitting this area when I hit bumps. Luckily, my man Chad outside Philadelphia now works at a customs bike shop, so anytime I bring my car he basically works on it for free. He says it's a hobby, not his job.

Also, I just read all the postings about Long Beach's eyelids. I too have fiberglass. I ordered them for $40 from Accolade (body-kit.com). I'm putting mine on tomorrow. Have you had any issues with paint chipping on them?My Altima is primarily my commuter and weekday car, and long trips endure flying stones, bugs, and all that good crap that can ruin paint. Had any damage to yours? Let me know.

It's usually good to use electrical tape and tape up all connections. This will help decrease the possibility of water getting in there...

oh yeah, next time you go to the factory to tell them something messed up, make sure EVERYTHING dealing with that item looks factory... they def could have played the stealership "you modded it, it broke, you pay" thing.

Glad everything worked out for you Daniel!

Yea man. I'm surprised they didn't try to blame it on the intake also.
