any ideas on that. I got a 92 w/ 94-96 injector swap. I don't see any outside leaks which is good. before install, I had injectors cleaned and rebuilt. have been running this setup for about6 months.
maybe a sensor gone bad?

if you have done a plenum job you must have missed the small fuel line in the rear of the engine bay. That is USUALLY the cause of this. I think you can only access it when the plenum is off

When you say you don't see any fuel leaking "externally" I assume this means there are no evident leaks inside the engine compartment, either. If that's the case, that will probably rule out the fuel hose mentioned on the post above.

Is the strong fuel smell coming out the tail pipe? In that case you probably have a leacky injector and/or a pinched "O" ring (damaged when mounting the fuel rail & injector). In this situation you should run a pressure test to confirm if fuel is really free-flowing into one or more of the cylinders. And make sure you correct it, ASAP, before you have a hydraulic lock-up and bend a rod...

Here's the link to an old post related to flooding/fuel leak. Hope it helps.

thanks for the replies. BCC93QT, i don't believe its a hose. i did redo everything, but that would cause a continuous smell not to mention a serious fire hazard as much as i get on it. but for the sake of my sanity, ill check it.
Mint Q45A, i was a little confused by the thread you sent me and your response to this. you replied with a possible leaky injector or o-ring, but your thread proved no internal leaks. however, i don't understand how knock sensors could cause flooding situation.
im drawn to the coolant temp sensor being bad.once up to operating temp all is well and no matter how cold it is, the Q starts on a dime. but again, for the sake of sanity, ill do a pressure check. my injectors and rail were cleaned and installed by Mr. Injector. all i had to do was bolt it down and plug it up. what all can cause over fueling on cold start? coolant temp sensor, o2 sensor, tps? another thing i noticed is it takes my car forever to warm up according to the gauge. idle 10 minutes and some driving and it just creeps. anyone experience this? possible connection? ill be pulling entire interior soon (swap tan to grey) and will go through all wires and connections. electrical gremlins! though people advised me to get rid of my baby for 94-96, i cant do it.

Electrical gremlins in the 94-96 are more common so I hear. Honestly I think its the fuel line(s) I described. You can find a pic by searching and looking. Rear pass side of the engine bay below the 2 larger hoses going into the firewall. Numerous posts on this. I myself have gone through this. Smells only on startup until it warms up as well as idling. Even worse when the fan is blowing. Pull up to a red light and idle for a min and you'll smell it. Stand outside your car on startup and you can smell it too.

If the care takes forever to warm up, it is most likely because the thermostat is stuck open.
You are absolutely right about the knock sensors not having anything to do with the fuel system. My intent be referring to the old post was to simply give you an idea on how to look for a fuel leak. You can ignore it.

It seems the BCC93QT's experience with the fuel line is exactly what you have. The hose he is referring to is short and, if I am not mistaken, feeds the Fuel Damper. Look below the IAC Valve, on the back of the engine, very close to the firewall.

well, its confirmed. I am dripping pretty good from that short line on the pass. side. dampener? or regulator? any how, I may have maid a mistake using the smooth bore clamps considered to be better. hopefully I can twist the clamp around to allow better access to the tightening screw. even those hoses are brand new along with every other hose under and around the Plenum. I may have a slight coolant leak too. where the gassed pools at, it sort of had a green tint to it though I can't confirm yet. hood shocks aren't s*** coled. hard to look and hold up hood too.
