So I just finished installing my 180sx quarter panel glass....god that was a pain in the a*s.

I used Heavy Duty Liquid Nail at the suggestion of two trusted sources (one friend who works at Mercedes Benz and another who does construction for the school district). Both of them told me that Liquid Nail would hold the glass to the metal very well.

However, after talking to MrZabala, who also does construction work, he told me that the Heavy Duty Liquid Nail would not be a weatherproof adhesive. Now here is where I feel really dumbfounded. The bottle even says not approved for mirrors.

Now I'm feeling a bit retarded. Do you think the usage of Heavy Duty Liquid Nail was a wise decision? It's starting to rain here in the Bay and I'm worried the glass will just plop over and shatter. And no, I don't have my 240sx glass because the driver side imploded, and the passenger side cracked.

Any suggestions on what to do?

My brother just told me that if there was pressure built inside car from the wind, theres a chance that it will "fly off" and "hit someone."

It's not for use on mirrors because all it's adhering to is the silver/copper/paint layer on the back of the mirror, not the glass. I'd not heard of using construction adhesive for window mounting, but okay, I guess. Why not just get some real window mounting goop from the automotive paint store?

pressure built up inside the car? i highly doubt enough pressure would be generated inside the car. i tried pulling on the glass earlier, and believe me, it would take a lot of air pressure to blow those things off...

Just trying to get inputs from people. He was thinking of a diamond grinder for windows if you ever wanted to bolt it to the metal frame of the car and cover it with the weather strip.

yeah i feel u. this glass is pretty fragile, however, and under extreme pressure just implodes like the last one. do you know if a knife or other flexible blade would penetrate liquid nail? thats what i did to thread the cable saw through it.

It will be hard. I guess you can compare the liquid nail (substance) to something like the bedliner. Its pretty hard to cut onces its cured. I had many stains of the bedliner and that **** wont come off. I ripped my pajamas getting one off. The bedliner that fell on the cement road came off but it took a fat chunk of the cement.

Yeah. Its good that its not going to rain on Tuesday and Wed(?). This will help. Something that will help is maybe drive in the marshes we went to and see how that goes. Oh, btw I posted some pics of the 240z if you want to check them out..

Dam.. I might just end up rebuilding a Ka and putting it into the 240sx and sell the Sr. So many options. But sweet. Hehe, If you ever need to, you can bring all 3 of the KAs here. I can use the area near the water tank and put pallets and call it a day.
