is it just me or are the doors extremely heavy? are the doors on a regular coupe lighter? is it the metal of the door or soundproofing/safety stuff that i can gut? the body parts on the car seem so heavy, especially the doors....im tryin to lighten the car down and the doors seem like a good place to start. has anyone else done something about this?

thanks.

It's not your imagination, the doors are heavy as hell.I've banged my shin up multiple times and my girlfriend hates the car because of them.

Great post!

I just swapped doors a few weeks ago. The 'vert doors are CONSIDERABLY heavier than the coupe/fastback doors.

Totally, and at least you are aware of what you did man. You can totally skip the hatch this time, thats reserved for the unsavalgable cases. We might just assign you some community service ^^

haha and once again i plead guilty. a few 22's later here i am. idk if i wanna get rid of power windows though. i might just keep these doors and deal with the extra 30lbs. i just cant believe they're 15 lbs heavier each that's insane. i weighed less when i was born.

Take the glass, motors, and inner bracing out, and replace panels with fiberglass (as I did), and you're down to 36.
