Well i was one of the lucky owners of a Q without the rear sunshade package. I called the dealer and they quoted me 1600 just for the part and then labor on top of that. So i did a little searching and found a third party rear sunshade made by Solar Eclips that can be operated with a push of a button for only $100. I'm looking into getting one of these ASAP because this heatwave is getting out of control. Anyone purchased something similar alone the lines of this, please chime in. I have not found anyluck with any other power sunshades online so if anyone else knows any other company that makes them feel free to add your comments.

How about WINDOW TINT... OR a used one off of a junk Q...

The sunshade was in the 02+ so itd be easy to find.

Someone w/time and money should look at retrofitting one from a BMW as they have a superior shape (shad shape follow angles of rear window unlike others that are simply veritcal lines). Maybe one from a 7 series? This one looks too tacked on IMO. Good idea though. Had one in my MB and it really helped.

They sold 2005 F50 without a rear motorized shade? Guess they didn't put it in the base model.

Damn that is expensive. I just had mine repaired (replaced) under an extended warranty I bought with the car /2002Q. The warranty guy almost had a heart attack when he got the repair estimate ($1,400). Only needed the motor replaced as the shade was still good and functiional but for some reason they replaced the whole assembly. For that much I was going to do without but the warranty company amazed me and paid up. Good luck finding a shade.

Sissies.

It hits 122 here.

Anyhow, Huper Optik for the win. Better than a sunshade, looks better, and adds to the value of the car.

My 2000 I30t has a rear shade, and I leave it up all the time, night and day.

If the fuel tank and lines weren't in the way, I would try to retrofit one from a later Q.

My tint helps some, but the shade is ultra cool. I like the ones on the side windows in the new M45.
