heating promblem. HELP WINTER IS ALMOST HERE.!!

i while back my heater core blew and im workin on gettin that replaced, but before it went out on me, one day the heater quit workin on me. it wouldnt blow it out the vents ne more. im thinkin its the switch? i was gonna replace the whole heater unit control box. IS that the PROBLEM???

well if you said that your heater core was blown then how can you still drive it cause the heater hose connect to that from the firewall.. well the way you said that your blower still works but when you try to switch it to the heater position it wont blow out heat no more rite... then thats not ur issue try to replace your heater core first... but if your switch is an electrical switch like the jdm one then maybe but only maybe if its the same just like the other 240sx then thats not the issue cause its control by a cable unless the cable breaks...

well when the heater core blew. all i did was pull the 2 hoses that conected to the core out of the firewall and conected them together. so i still have coolant circulating. but im with out heat.

that whole heater unit thats sits above the cd player. yeah, none of it works. nothin will blow out of the vents at all. wut were you sayin. ? is it the blower or heat unit itself??

no if you turn on the switch and nothing blows out then its possible ur unit or blower check to see if both of them have power going in to them and thats ur problem because you hook up the 2 heater hose up thats y you dont have any heat no more...

oh yeah yeah, i know why i dont have any heat (cause of the heater core.) i already knew that. i plan on getting that fixed. but that doesnt fix my blowing problem. so your sayin it could be the blower? how do you figure out if any of those things are gettin power(heat unit)? i was gonna try runing a different wire to see if the problem was just a bad switch. but if its the blower(which by the way,i have no idea were that is) i dnt wanna spend 50 bucks on a unit for no reason

if it helps any. before it COMPLETELY went out. i was able to knock on the dash and floor board a couple times then it would work. bout 5 min. later i relized nothing was coming out. it did that a few times then it would never turn back on since..

well if you said that you have to hit the dash for the blower to work then it might be the blower. if you want to know if the switch is having power then turn on the car and see if the unit light up if it does then you have power on the unit to see if you have power on the blower you have to take out the glove box and you will see the blower then just disconnect the harness from it and turn your unit on and check it with the light tester to see if you have any power if it dont then it might be the unit if it does then its your blower.

there are only a few tings that could cause your blower not to work. I have the same problem right now. if you are getting power to and from the switch it is the blower relay, blower resistor, or the blower motor its self. I would test the relay first it is located behind the left side of the blower control it is a blue relay.
