We are in the middle of winter up here in Canada. Temps are not that cold though -10C /14 or 15 F above right now. The car is taking 15-20 mins to warm up and the blower never really blows heat on to your feet on the windshield/foot selection with max fan and max heat.Had it in to the Nissan dealer...apart from telling me to wear a second touque to keep warm they stated that it is working within specs!Any thoughts

That seems unusual. I can run, in 30 degree (about -1 C) temps, my heater at fan speed 2, 3/4 heat, and it will be warm in about 5 minutes, and burning up after about 15.

There has been one other (Canadian) owner who has complained about insufficient heat, but we never got an answer from Nissan about it.

Pretty much the same here as EV. It's been 15-25° F here the past few mornings, and after the blue low temp light goes off (less than 5 minutes) I turn the fan to 2 with the heat setting on 1/2 to 3/4, and it heats up nicely. I need to back off to no more than 1/2 pretty soon or it gets too hot in the car.

The Versa does take a bit to heat up, mainly because of the advanced low-friction technologies used in the MRxxDE engine. I would recommend an auxillary 12v electric heater, which can be had for around $30 US at most auto parts stores, and even walmart.

hey there,

that doesn't sound right to me. we've been down to -25C up here and it warms up just fine blowing warm air.

my warm up routine is to turn the car on, by the time i scrape my windshield of the frost (2 minutes) the engine rpms drop from about 1,600 (initial start up) down to about 1,150 rpm where i start driving slowly. within two to three minutes of light driving (trying to keep rpms below 2,700 and light throttle) the blue light goes off.

do you let it idle for 15 minutes? or did you mean after driving for 15 minutes.

It might be just a personal belief of mine, but these small engines will not warm up unless you add some load. So I let the oil circulate and allow the rpms to drop a little from a cold start before going on a light drive.

Is your intake door lever set to recirculate? If not you are getting outside cold air going through the heater core.

For fastest warmup, make sure intake door lever is set to recirculate and the temperature control set to full cold. This will keep the temperature loss of the coolant via the heater core to a minimum, resulting in a faster warmup.

I let my V warm up for about ten minutes in the morning and then head out. It takes another ten minutes to get much heat out of the ducts. It has been about 10 degrees F. here.
