well I love my car that's why its giving me so much problems lol. anyway Im having a heater problem. it will not switch to the defrosters on the windshield or anything else. it stays on the front vents all the time. I used to hear a clicking in the dash when I was able to switch it but not anymore. also my heater wont shut off now when I tried to figure out the problem. im terrible with electrical problems. anyone have any ideas? I checked all the fuses and everything. they work fine. also can someone post a the correct amps for each fuse. I found out the previous owner had A 15AMP in one of the fuses when it was a 20 amp. anyway anyone have any ideas of what is wrong. thanks!!!!!!!!!1

You aren't the first person this has happened to. The heater core box has a few doors that move around to direct where the heat goes. A little motor, called the "mode door motor" moves them around. Each is connected by various linkages and plastic gears. The top reasons yours could not be working are:

1) the mode door motor itself went bad (I suppose there's a relay for this, that might have went bad too)

2) one of the linkages is disconnected or broken, preventing the doors from moving

You can try taking some of the lower dash trim off (and possibly your radio + bezel) etc. and having a look, basically just to see if anything stands out. The heater box itself is dead center under/behind the dash so its hard to get a look at it. Look on Google images to see what it looks like.

Here's a link to the FSM that talks about the heater box and its controls, not sure exactly what page you will need, but its close:

Just know that the heater box replacement is not really a job for a few hours on the weekend. It requires removing basically the entire dash. You can definitely see it with the radio pulled though. There are guides out there on how to do it.
