heater problem

I have a 97 sentra gxe. the heater just stopped working a couple days ago. I removed the heater control from the dash and found it is a wire type mover by plastic helical cut gears, the gears work fine, and I followed it down to the blend door and it move freely. The car doesn't overheat and runs great, just not sure where to start on diagnosing what happened.

ok, took off the heat core outlet hose with engine at operating temp, after a few drips, no coolant flow whatsoever, reconnected outlet, let run for a minute then took off inlet hose, no flow from that either... I would assume that leaves the water control valve, but my haynes manual doesn't mention a control valve at all, anyone know where it is?
