Heater hose after heater core removal Q?

Hey guys, After working on the interior a bit more on my buds 93, we decided to rip out the heater core as well as everything else (vents. A/C crap etc...). My question is: Can we just run a hose from the coolant line going from the engine (to the heater) to the hose that goes back to the engine (from the heater)? I would assume that would work just fine, but would like some clarification! Thanks!

Yes you can loop it back into the engine.
