Hello,

Last winter, what I believe is a door that opens and closes the heater went out on my 93 J30. I took it to a local Nissan dealer, who opened the door so I could get heat. When spring rolled around, I had them open it, so I could get A/C. The problem is, in El Paso, Texas in winter, it gets very cold at night /early morning and very warm during the day (often 40+ degrees difference). So, I would be comfy in the morning, sweating like crazy during the day. Does anyone know the name of this part? The Nissan vendor tried to order it, but the wrong thing kept being sent by Nismo/Infiniti. Apparently the part number may have changed. When the heat is turned on, it makes an intermittent "flapping" sound, but no warm air is let in. I would love to avoid taking it in to a dealer (which graciously does not charge me), and would like to be able to turn the heat off in winter during the day (again, because the door on this thing, which is by the driver's right foot, stays open, it gets obnoxiously hot.) Thank you for any advice!

The blend door is your problem. It either cable or motor controlled. Check the cable or motor whichever it is.

Thank you! I will look into that! Is the cable/motor control dependent on the year? (mine's a '93).

They should be the same for 93-97.....

I would assume that if the dealer isnt charging you it must be easy to change...

You can perform the self diagnosis on the mix doors.... actually on the whole HVAC system

Press and hold the OFF button until it does the segment check... Do this within 5 seconds of turning the ignition (engine doesnt have ot be running) on... Once the segment check comes up (techhie name for all the lights coming on), press the WARMER button (the blue arrow going down)..... Then it should test all the things, and then post up what the final number is (it should be 20something)
