heater/defrost 2.5s

help...i have a just purchased 09 Altima Sedan 2.5s. My problem is the heater. Whenever I select defrost, or any of the other airflow buttons, the a/c light comes on. If I shut it off then my windows all fogs up & get streaky. Any feed bacl would be appreciated

It's not a problem; they were designed that way. The defrost selects the A/C because it helps to reduce the humidity of the air in the car.

thank you so much for ur response. So am I supposed to shut the a/c off after awhile or will it do it on it's own?
