Can any one help me ?

My path finder is blowing hot vapour in to the cabin trough the top hoses of the Dashboard, also it began to overheating some times, i replace all the coolant and flush the sistem 2 times. Yesterday i found a particular smeel in the cabin and just looking arround fonund all the cooling liquid under the carpet in the pasinger side.

So my guess was the heater core hoses or the heater unit have leaks. I removed parts of my dash to check the hoses but i figure out i need to remove all the control panel and dash to reach the heater unit. So here are my questions

1 Is there any way to ping point the issue before atemping to remove all the dash boards

2- Would it be a solution to just join the heater hoses in the engine end, and eliminate the flow to the core heater unit. ( It will also eliminate the heater function)

3- If replace the Core heater is the solution, or check the hoses on it, can any one provide me pictures of how to.

I have reviewed the following links

http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/i30/2001/ha.pdf pag 20
http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/i30/2001/bt.pdf Pag 30

For now, i just removed the pasinger seat and have the carpet clean and drying

Thank you !!!!

I searched around but couldn't find a how-to. I'm pretty sure you have to pull the dash apart to do this.

as to answers to your questions:

1) You might get a cooling system pressure tester and find the leak that way.

2) That is definitely an option but yes, you will have no heat. Just dress warmly!!

3) I searched around but couldn't find a how-to. I'm pretty sure you have to pull the dash apart to do this. Lots of cars require the dash to be taken apart for the procedure.

Also, check out this stuff. It's more of a temporary fix but some people swear by it. I'd probably use it if I had to.

MM it never cross my mind to use this kind of sealant products. any way I used option 2 for now but will keep in mind this  :) as per the clothing,, well there is no need of that in Bogota, we have a steady temperature all year.
