mine does the same thing, and its ****ing cold here in NY.the car warms up to the right temp on the temp gauge also but still blows cold to warm air once i get it going, but if i stop or idle it gets cold again, WTF?

i just found a small hairline crack on my radiator, so it might be a leak entering the system.

240's definitely have one. Mine wasn't heating up (Texas though, so not so bad!), and the dealer I got it from (a Honda dealer) agreed to put a new one in. It was getting heat up to the core, but not going in. Checked all valves and such, but it turned out to be a blockage of some kind (rust from the cooling system I guess). I was quoted $150 for the part, and 15.4 hours of labor to put it in at the Nissan dealer! Sometimes the Honda guys aren't all bad! LOL!

our car definatly has a heater core...as a matter of fact i changed mine yesterday took me 6 hours. it's a pain to get to it's in the middle of the firewall under the dash so you have to take the whole thing apart. then you have to take out the ac just to move the heater core. i lucked out though the whole thing only cost me 30 bucks...15 for the part (eBay rules!!!) and 15 for shipping. well good luck and if you need any help i'm here:spam

I was tempted to do mine, but I did one on a Camaro about 10 years ago, and that was experience enough for me! Besides, the dealer was more than willing to do the job to make the sale! Good score on the core, btw!

I've been doing a little searching on Ebay for 240 parts today. Looks like I'll be buying some stuff there too! Lot's of stuff to choose from.

I've always used it for bike parts, and I did a lot of Neon stuff there a couple of years ago, but it had slipped my mind. Not anymore though!

nope, but a coolant pressure tester would help point out any leaks; just don't pump it up past 16 psi since the rad cap says it holds 13psi...

In some situations--wouldn't flushing the coolant clear the heater core and help make more heat?

maybe..if it's clogged too heavily from lack of coolant changes, then flushing it may/may not help...the "clogs" might migrate to one of many engine coolant passages & boom; need new headgasket.

if flushing w/ a machine, then yea, i guess it'll help...
