I need to replace my leaking heater core. I have the dash torn apart and can get to the heater box but how do I get the hoses removed on the engine side of the firewall? There is practically no room to get in there to remove the hose clamps.

I always just snaked in the socket (maybe with some swivel adapters) in from the passenger side. Its a little tight, but its do-able.

Ya taking a break from working on it then looking again I think I can get it but it is very tight. Just need to remove the bracket holding the hose to the firewall then use a small swivel to get in there.

its all about finesse. Just gotta work at it with your tool selection. swivels and spring extensions are always a great thing to have

Thanks, I got the hoses off but pulling the heater unit out of the dash is holding me up now.
Am I correct that I should not have to remove anything from the ac condenser box just to the right of it? If that has to come off then I think I'll probably have to take it to a shop, not sure I want to mess with discharging the ac.
I'm pretty sure I've removed all the screws as the unit is definitely loose now.
I'm wondering if I need to remove the bar that goes all the way across the dash? Meaning the airbag as well.

for what it's worth, i just reinstalled all my hvac stuff on my s13 and had to pull the metal dash bar back off to get the heater core box back in again. i recently removed one from another s13 and had to pull the dash bar to get it out too.

I appreciate the feedback.
I was able to get the heater box out with the core finally. Went to slide the new core in that was sold to me by autozone and realized the new one is too wide. It is 7.5" wide while my original core is about 6.5" wide so obviously won't fit. Looking online most of the cores I see that give dimensions say they are 7.5" but they appear to be for 95 or earlier.
Here is what they sold me http://www.autozone.com/cooling-heating ... 31996_0_0/

Options I have found online:

Way more $ than I want to spend
https://www.courtesyparts.com/nissan/24 ... eater-core

This one say it is for 96 240sx but the picture looks too wide as well, but may be a generic image

Any recommendations on where to get the correct part or do any of the above seem correct? Looked on rockauto but don't see a heater core listed at all.

Thanks for the help.
