I recently rebuilt the motor in my daughter's 240 and I'm close to having it back in the car. I decided it might be a good idea to change the heater core since ,when I flushed it with the engine out of the bay, rusty water just kept coming out. I'm also doing the a/c system and had to replace a part there anyway so wanted to do it all together . Clean water from a new core couldn't help but make the engine better ,longer internally. Anyway..only ONE core is listed by most online sites. i picked rock auto and ordered the part before i took everything down. When i got to the actual part it was WORLD"s different. The original had a plastic tank molded to the the core with plastic nozzles coming out of it. On the replacement.. it looks like it was built to screw the nozzles onto it .
My question is...anyone know of a part number or source for this probably earlier design? Any earlier different models have this design? and ...if i got the heater core off a later model. 240..'92,'93...would that design fit my box? I'm thinking i might could still use this core I bought if I had a set of nozzles from a later model to put on it. Am i correct about the later design? Rock auto is going to credit my account 'cause they cannot get the other design and aren't requiring me to return it....very nice policy!! I basically have either a useable free part or a lovely paperweight! Any one else run into this problem?

Do you have the heater core out of the car yet? The nozzles that stick through the firewall are attached to the core with 4 screws on each nozzle, you will need to swap the nozzles from the old core to the new core.

Also, for anyone else that is interested, 240's use the same heater core from 89-98, nissan part # 27115. (that is for the whole unit with the nozzles)

I already have the old one out. It has plastic nozzles and is literally molded to the core...not screwed on. If i could get the nozzles from an 91 up,they would screw onto the core Rock auto sent..correct? i know of a couple in salvage yards I can check. I am correct in thinking they would line up ok with the holes in the firewall also? The dimensions of the unit Rock auto sent are very close to the same as the old one. Anyone have a set of the nozzles from an old core they have laying around? i'd rather not have to take another dash apart!
I do have another question...There was a heavy tarlike tape on the old a/c accumulator valve...Does that have to go back on? Where can you get something like that? The stuff i had was completely unusable...

according to the online factory parts site, you'll have to try to get one from a 95+ model... unless their parts diagram is incorrect (i entered from 89 to 91 and they were all the original unit ~ with the molded-on water pipes)

Thanks for doing the searching for me! I did manage to find another core in a salvage yard and really flushed it out...seems like it isn't leaking . If anyone needs one of the later style cores that take the searate tubes I'll give this one to you for free..just cover shipping. My email is [email protected]. I got the heater core and a/c evaporator in fine and replaced the expansion valve. Two tips on that..1) always use two wrenches to looen the fittings and2) put a piece of cardboard between the evaporator and the fittings when loosening. This will definitely save the fins.I found silicone tape at Home depot to replace the original tarlike wrap in the expansion valve. They have it in the plumbing dept. Thanks for all the help!
