The system is working correctly. On ACC-equipped cars, the AC light does not necessarily mean cooling, but that the system will use it for either cooling or dehumidification depending on temperature. You will still get heat if the inside temp is lower than the temp setting you have chosen. In defrost mode, the AC is likewise used to dehumidify the air which helps remove the moisture on the window.
