Not all the time..... but often..... when I turn on the heater or the air conditioner............... particularly when the engine is cold.

I hear a noise like "tweety bird" usually is on low or medium fan but refuses to go away until it feels like it. It also comes back when it feels like it. It seems to be a Nissan thing in that it happened in all my Z's and was never able to figure it out.It does get to be rather annoying when you just need the low setting.

Any suggestions Gentlemen?

Bet your motor is failing and is getting ready to take out your darlington bridge.

This has been going on since I got the car about 5 yrs ago. Shouldn't the motor be gone by now.

You can get to the blower fan pretty easily. Remove the glovebox and the metal crossbrace behind it. After unbolting the fan it will pull out with a little wiggling. Go to Q45.org Tech Help site for detailed DIY instructions.

Once you've got the fan in hand check the inlet and outlet ducts for debris, disassemble and lube the fan motor, and wipe the excess dirt off the blade assembly. Put it all back together and see how it sounds. Good luck.

Thank you Mike.... I will give it a try as soon as we get out of single digits and let you know if it works. I appreciate your help. BTW I was able to find the steering wheel pieces in the tan color, did not have to use paint but thanks again.
