Recently I replaced my cars heater core hoses and did a complete coolant change. I did this because my heater wouldn’t work at all. Turns out the previous owner did a nice hack job and just kinked a hose between the 2 engine side heater core pipes. He also had just water in the coolant system, so as you can imagine I spent a good day purging it.

Well now I have heat and only heat. My AC stopped working at almost all speeds. The only time I can get COOL not cold air is if I’m coasting around 40-50mph. I even get heat when nothing is switched on at all. Another thing that has started to occur after those issues were addressed, is now I have a clear and very audible air/vacuum leak. The leak wasn’t there before I unkinked the heater hose and changed/purged the water to coolant.

My question is, is there some sort of switch that controls the heater/AC that is vacuum controlled? And if so where is it located. Judging by the way the previous owner addressed the heater I feel like I might be missing a vacuum line completely.

Let me know what you guys think.

Do you have manual or auto climate control?

I don't have a/c in my car, but that is because I opted to take it out. You will have residual heat from the heater core regardless just from hot coolant passing through it.

Yes I understand that but is there a door of some sort that closes when the system is set to off? Its literally like the heat is on but the fan isn't. Then when i turn the AC on I don't get even cool air its always hot now and my ac used to be super cold.

Push the button for recirculate, that helps me.
