Hey guys, has anyone noticed that when you run the heated seats your gas mileage drops dramatically?? Does the heated seats run off a different system? The seats will get warm with in a few min but it seems like the gas just totally dumps out of my tank. Any advice?? Thanks.

The heated seats are a completely different system from the powertrain.
There should be no relationship with using them and the mpg...
unless if your alternator is weak and the heated seats is taking current away from the ignition system, but that's a stretch, lol.

Heated/cooled seats are purely electric. Even if the system taxed the alternator to its full capacity you still should not see that much, if any, change in MPG. I use mine occasionally and have NOT noticed any decrease in mileage. Have you tried driving in the same temps without the seat heater(s) to see what the difference in MPG is? Cold weather will decrease mileage due to winter blends of fuel and also the colder intake charge.

My mileage drops as the temperature drops because I drive harder. Colder air = more dense air = more power. lol. I have a heavy foot. That and because the gas mix is different.

In the summer I can average 19mpg and in the winter it's about 17.

I have noticed quite the opposite. It seems when winter sets in, and the closer we get to the Holidays, the better my mileage gets. I always wondered about this, and then I figured it out: with 3 daughters, a son-in-law, and 2 grandsons, it is my wallet getting much lighter, thus improving my power to weight ratio. The result is better MPG.
