I am a new guy on the block. Very glad I found this site. Lots of outstanding info here. Seems like a very friendly site too.

Since the day I bought my 2004 M45 with the heated and cooled seats I don't seem to get very much heat from the seats regardless of the setting.

Does anyone know why this is? I have read many posts, but not all, so if the issue has been addressed please direct me there.

Thanks.

I have notice my seats don't get as "hot" as other cars I've owned but gets plenty warm for me. They do get cold when set to cool in summer.

You have me confused. I live in CT and need the heated seats. My wife who drives a little Ford Focus tells me her seats are much better than the ones I have in the M. As for cooling, correct me if I am wrong, but thats nothing but some tiny fans blowing air. I need heat, bigtime!!! I can fart more heat than my seats put out.

Are mine defective? The car is still under warranty. I wonder, is there an adjustment I can make.

You would not think this is a major issue..........but I need to keep the wife happy. HELP!!!!

Hey.........Mr. Florida. Thanks for nothing. I used to live in FL too. Right next to Hulk Hogan in Palm Harbor. This is a site to trade info, not to brag about your weather. Give us a few more years of Global Warming and all you people who live in that stink hole of a State will be under water.

I hated that swamp water, alligator, snake invested piece of sand called Florida. Florida is where old people go to die and young people who can't make in the the North go. Why are you there?

So you have any insight as to why my seats don't get warm enough? Or has the sun fried your tiny brain into the size of those rabbits you call deer down there?

well i would do two things, first id try to lay off the sarcasm or actual irate attitude, it makes it hard to want to help and easier to just be annoying back,

if your seat is not heating up as much as youd like, id check your manual to see if there is any adjustment or setting to mess with yourself,

call your dealer and see if you can bring it by and ask about it there. if you bought it recently and you do have a warrenty, id see if they can test it there or adjust it there.

you have a leather interior i assume? cars with the leather seats in general seem to lose heat more then the cloth ones do in general due to the properties of leather and heat retention.

but ask your dealer, im sure if they will be happy to help you get it right. or at least let you know if its the best it can do.

Sounds like some good ideas. I think I will first look up the manual that is one this site and if I can't find the answer there go to the dealer as you suggest. It still has a few months under warranty.

Sorry about banging on Florida. I just did not enjoy my tour of duty there. The State actually has many great attributes if you get off the beaten path to find them. My in-laws still live there. My wife loved living there, but we had to leave as we followed our careers. I actually liked a lot of things about Florida except for one, too many people moving from somewhere to there and destroying it's natural beauty in the process.

Thanks again...........I am going to the NICO manuals now.

best thing you may be able to do is get a seat cover made out of a special material if your seat wont adjust. its used in dog beds but it retains and reflects the body heat back and its a fairly thick shag that like fur keeps a layer of air trapped in it and retains heat extremely well.

when i go to work this week i will get the name of the bed / company, but its just a white material that rolls out flat, you could lay it over the seat and leave it in the house when your not driving to keep it prewarmed up.

hopefully though the dealer can help you out.

Fl was nice when i visited, it is about as humid here in Va in the summers as it is there, but we get really cold winters, its 22 deg this evening so i sympathize with the being cold part.

gl and do post an update if you get it solved, id like to know what worked.

That's a very good idea that I never thought of. Thanks. I can handle the cold leather, its my wife that whines about them not getting hot enough.

I was thinking a little, which is always dangerous on my part. But, I just put snow tires on my M. I had to take the sport tires off as they just will not go in snow. I am thinking when it gets past winter I will buy a new set of rims and regular tires. I will just keep the snows on the factory rims.

That leaves me with 4 sport tires that are great in warm weather that will do nothing but sit around and rot. Since you live in a warmer area would you be interested in these. They have about 14K on them. I would hate to throw them out and will sell them cheap if you want to pay for shipping.

Let me know. So what M do you have? I went to college at GW and lived in Arlington for awhile. I does get very cold there. I am looking at about 25 myself tonight and the furance is burning that oil big time at the moment to keep the home warm.

i have a 1985 s12, no heated seats its not bad, and fairly luxerious for the time (talking voice thick carpets, nice seats with better padding then the s13 that came after.

my moms van is leather with heated front seats and thats how i know abotu the leather issues.

i probably cannot use the sport tires as i have 15" wheels , but what are the specs and what price are you looking for, i have friends that can probably use them.

for that matter i know Ct is hot in the summer, was born and lived for a bit in bridgeport CT. why not store the tires til april and go abuse them for the summer/fall? nothing like driving the twisty roads and just swapping back the regular tires afterward.

either way do let me know. ill get the material name tomorrow or tuesday at the latest.

Many thanks on the heated seat material. The tires are the stock 19" that come with the M45. I am willing to take almost any offer. Say around $20-25 per tire? I just hate to see them go to waste.

But on the other hand. You may have a good idea. Just beat them into the ground. Problem I have with that is I have to get my M into speeds far exceeding the speed limits or just burn the snot out of them at low speeds in first or second gear. Being a rear wheel drive car, I could only do two at a time and then would have to switch them.

I am up around Bradley Airport in Windsor. I know where Bridgeport is, but can't recall too well how I got there. Guess its the age, vile liquid or meds that made me forget. KIDDING.

Thanks a ton on the info on the seats and I am looking forward to you letting me know on the material. Maybe then my wife will stop whining as we go to Foxwoods and her little butt is cold for the first 10 minutes.

Regards,

Karl.

I got the sarcasm, and I actually enjoyed it. Thanks, other45. Cool name, by the way. I'm a Colt and Springfield guy myself, but Baers are great stuff too.

I live outside Chicago and use my heated seats a lot. I've had seats that get so hot I've had to turn them down, the M seats aren't like that but they do get plenty warm. Check the filter, very easy to do no tools needed.

To all my good new friends at NICO who got back to me with advice on the seats...............many thanks. As to those who commented on my "Mr. Florida" it was done somewhat tongue in check. But you know email, sometimes that type of humor can only be done face to face. The person I sent it to has actually been very helpful.

To the one who figured out my login ID, I never had a 45 in my hands that I didn't like. One of my all time favorites. That includes the car too. An old Army Colt I have still works as well today as it did 50 years ago. Never changed a part. Only wish I could justify the money for a Wilson.

I am going to check those filters. I think that may be where the problem is as my cooling mode doesn't work too well either.

Thanks again to all.

LOL!!! Sarcasm is always welcome in my opinion. The guy is freezing A$$ and needs help with heated seats and Mr. Florida comes in with “I live in Florida I don’t need it” LOL

Its all fun here folks lighten up! As for your seats not heating up, there is a filter and the leather is harder to heat as the months get colder. Its 30 degrees this morning here in Albuquerque, so I feel you pain. Oh and I have a Glock 30 .45

Thanks. Seems that filter is getting a unamious vote as to being the problem. Have a baby Glock myself I carry. I wouldn't mind having one in a 45 instead of the 9. Love my Glock too. Awesome reliable piece of work.

Mine don't heat up as well as my Qx4's do, but it works well enough for me.

I had a Glock 19, and I'm not a big fan. As for the baby Glocks, I have a problem with my pinky hanging off the grip. I'll stay with my S&W Sigma and my Springfield XD - both in .40 - FTW!

I know what you mean about the Glock. I like it because its easy to carry conceled which we can legally do in CT. Nothing wrong with any of the 40's either.

There aren't very many handguns/rifles/shotguns I don't like. I was thinking of getting one of S&W's revolvers in .460 or .50. The factory store is not too far away from me so maybe I'll have them tune it up a little.

Hello Soldiers of Fortune,The seats I would guess are acting normal, sadly. You are correct about the fans simply blowing air instead of a coolant or something. I live on the Southwest coast of Florida and certainly understand your issues with this most bizarre of states. Happy Hunting,M.L
