I removed the heated seats from my 94Q45t parts car and put them in my 94Q45 base with unheated seats this morning. The switchover was very easy and the connectors for the heated seats in my base Q were under the center console coin tray ready to be used. The only part you need other than the seats is the center console switches.

Removing the seat was very straightforward:

>>Plastic trim pieces cover each of the four bolts holding the seat to the chassis and are pryed off.

>>I also removed the plastic trim under the front of the seat and the trim piece on the outer (door) side of the seat but you could probably get away without removing these.

>>Tilt the seat back about 2/3 of the way, unplug just one connector, cut a couple of tie wraps and it's ready to pull.

>>The PS seat can come out the front or rear door but the DS comes out the rear because of steering wheel interference. For the DS seat I removed the rear seat cushion.

>>Turn the seat on its side with the headrest towards the door and rotate it out. Best done with two people or one weightlifter.

>>The controller for the seat heaters has 2 pawls and is pryed out from the long forward (toward the shifter) side.

>>Installation is the reverse of removal.

For the next to try this, remove the PS seat, then the DS seat and re-install the DS first. It's much easier to do with the lower section of the back seat out as he mntions.

awesome. now it must look like a new interior in the KK0.

i'd always wondered if the base models wer pre-wired--most excellent.

say, did your base (non-heated) DS seat have the lumbar support and did it work? that is the only thing that doesn't work on silver.

I'll be putting together a weekday evening meet for the local Q45 owners later in June. If we get more than 3 Q's together at the same time we'll set an off-the-sales-lot record for the most Q's in one place. I've been stalling waiting for Andy to finish his plenum job and I'll be sending out emails in a couple weeks.

Thanks Mike. I should be close to finishing today. Resealed left valve cover Saturday.
