I am running into a problem with my 07 m45 where the drivers seat heater turns off after 2 mins. and then no lights for cooling or heating.
any ideas? I called the dealer and they said it auto turns off after it reaches temp. but i have never had it do this before.
it wont even power on until i reset the ignition

Definitely does not turn off by itself. My heated seats are on 100% of the time from November to March lol.

It sounds like the auto protection circuit kicks in. There was another guy on this forum that experienced the same issue and I asked him to check the filter under the seat. Elevate the seal all the way up and forward. Reach underneath for the filter. Either way I suggest you take the chair out of the car and have a closer look at the blower on the seat part of the chair. Perhaps hairs and dust etc got into the blower?

I've owned 2 M35s logged 200k miles and have never used this feature. Slow to heat and cool and the holes collect dirt. Worst feature on these cars.

Do you sit in sand before you get into the car?

My car is immaculate inside and anyone that gets it dirty (ie spills coffee or something) can't ride in it for a year. Mine always works. Nice an toasty, or nice and cool for when I'm done playing ball.

I concur. My old M had nearly 100k miles and the seats worked perfectly warm and cool. The perforated seats are known for accumulating dirt, skin oils, skin lotions, and assorted dirt and oils from clothing - esp blue jeans. However, if you clean the seats thoroughly on a regular basis, this will not become an issue. You can vacuum the perforated areas or simply steam the seats like I do a couple times per year.
You also must replace the fan filters (located under the seats). I change my cabin air filter ($15) and both seat filters ($20 each) yearly and they actually DO get soiled.
