Can not be repaired, you will need to get a new y pipe- I had the same issue. Look at Ebay pipe was like $125 and $110 to install in Canada.TXT wrote:I have this issue and it's getting annoying. It doesn't sound terrible but I would like to fix it.
Also curious about repair cost.
No, it is the pipe between the headers and mid pipe that causes the problem and is arguably the biggest restriction in the stock system. Headers to Y pipe (problem) to mid pipe to mufflers.TXT wrote:Will a Megan Mid-pipe solve this issue?
I picked up a Ypipe that came off of a 2012 G37...Although I don't have an M35X, it still works well with the M35 sport...better low end tq...got mine for $100finikM35 wrote:Mine was rattling bad, got new Y pipe from G37. No more rattle, sounds good. For AWD M you can get G37 z370 Y pipe

Just in case-No, these will not work on the 45 because the 45's have cats integrated into the pipe (35/37 pipes are too short for the 45).CPJ LB wrote:I picked up a Ypipe that came off of a 2012 G37...Although I don't have an M35X, it still works well with the M35 sport...better low end tq...got mine for $100finikM35 wrote:Mine was rattling bad, got new Y pipe from G37. Yep: 2006-m45-y-pipe-the-beginning-t566657.htmlCPJ LB wrote:^ true...the M45's require a little different set up. I think if I had the M45, I'd go custom from the Cats into a true dual exhaust -- leading to Megan axle backs![]()
Dean, didn't you customize your ypipe set up and remove your secondary cats?? I can't remember.
