Don't kill me if this has been posted, I'm getting the Injen short ram intake soon and i know i should get the cold air version but i dont feel like caring about rain, because we have some pretty bad thunderstorms i have to drive threw up here sometimes. Is the heatshield effective at all? I wanna get it but would it really improve the inlet temp?

I dont think it makes that big of a difference. The intake pipe running overtop of your radiator is more of a heat problem than your filter being under your hood.

It would be sweet if someone made a kit for relocating your intake pipe. (for KA's)

i just got done making one right now. i finished making it out of cardboard and it fits perfectly. im still trying to decide what metal to use for the finished product, but it should work well. it will mainly block the heat from the headers

Aluminum. Its light weight and this isnt a load bearing application so you wont have to engineer it for strength. Just put some stick-on heat wrap on the side that faces the hot parts if you're worried about that sort of thing.

thats what i figured but i also was considering stainless steel. aluminum will be much easier to work with though. thanks for the input
