So i've removed a few heat shields already. The one covering the exhaust mani, the one that is close to the rear O2 sensor. My question is about the last heat shield down there. It doesn't seem to be bolted together. It looks like they just folded the sheet metal to form this shield. It is hooked around the pipe that is directly bolted to the exhaust mani. Do I just take some pliers and pull it off?

if you can't see any nuts or screws holding it on then yeah rip that pos outta there. i used a dremel to cut the brackets on the ones i removed.

so its a good idea to take off heat shields? what about the extra heat in the engine bay? or is this just to solve a noise problem...

yeah, ^ what he said, i would remove them, but i have a ka24e, and the plug wires are literally right there. when i get my hotshot, i might just get some header wrap and be done with it.

The shield over my converter dropped down with the rest of the exhaust when I took it down. I wasn't sure if it was just stuck on top the cat, or if it rusted off of the car and was hangin' around or what. The only one bolted on was the very back one, nearest to the resonator. I have all of them that were under the car off, but I left the one covering up the exhaust manifold just in case.

Just remember not to park on top of lots of leaves or grass because the heat from the CAT will start a fire... watch out during fall
