So, that's the question. I have it off right now cause I just finished swapping to a Skyline RB turbine. I am having issues with the manifold to turbo bolts coming loose, so I am contemplating keeping the heat shield off till I can get that pesky bolt problem solved.

But I really don't want to bake anything under the hood or make the paint on the bonnet blister either, so I kinda want to put it back on. But it would be easier to keep an eye on the bolts with it off.

Input?

I took all the shielding off mine but in the end decided to go back to the cover over the hot side only , it looks cleaner and it protects the brake fluid reservoir from the heat, I would think having the hot side sooo close to it would melt it. But I'm sure others have done it

How did you end up making the coolant lines fit for the 32 turbine? But for your question, I had mine off before with no issues, with the stock turbine i think that its fine...and its not like YOU have the master cylinder there...

I took the coolant lines off the R32 engine that I have and put them on the Laurel's engine. Worked like a charm.

I think for now, though, I am gonna keep the shield on. I have the two bolts for the wastegate braket holding it on now, and no issues at all. It's keeping the engine bay temps from baking out any of my accesories. I am in the market for an FRP hood for the Laurel that has a cooling vent that blows air right on to the turbine and also a vent on the front and back for pushing in cooler air and pushing out hot air. Now, if I can just come up with the $200 I need for it...BOOYAH!

Ask any of the Aussie guys, they might know what it means...lol

I got it from an Aussie guy I used to work with. Once you know the meaning, you will see the humor.
