Wassup peoples, I'm new to this site coming from nicoclub.com since the site was not as responsive as I expected them to be coming from my acura TL site, I joined this for my girlfriend who has a 2001 pathfinder LE, for some reason her heat is not as strong as it usually is, what are some things I should check? Has anyone had any problems with the heat before. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the club! Great to have you here.

The heat for the cabin is generated by engine coolant that is routed through the heater core. That hot fluid fills the heater core and passes it's heat to the air. So clearly you won't get warm or hot air until the engine temp is up and the coolant is hot.

If the heat isn't working so well, you may have one of a couple common problems. First off, you may have air pockets either in the heater core or the lines coming to and from. Having an air pocket will hurt the ability of the coolant to flow into and out of the heater core, resulting in poor heating. Secondly, your lack of heat might be the first sign of a failing water pump. If the pumps fins are wearing down, it will be less and less efficient at moving the coolant through the engine and heater core.

Try bleeding your coolant system to get rid of air bubbles... most likely that's the issue.

Cool, thank you for the welcome and your helpful advice, I will look into those couple of issues, since I received such a prompt response which is appreciated would you mind answering another quick question, also her windsheild washer fluid is not coming out and I do not hear the motor please tell me where I should check to begin trying to find out what's wrong before I bring it to my mechanic. Thanks buddy!

sure thing..

Try checking the fuses first. Might just be a blown fuse that's causing the electrical current to fail. I've never had the wiper fluid pumps go out, so I'm not sure where to send you for that.

Try the search button on top of the screen.. i'm sure it's been discussed in the past.

Thanks, it's definitely a fun car! I do love my QX though, even though it's slow, but the G makes up for it

My experience with any vehicle has been that low coolant levels and air bubbles can be diagnosed when you notice that you get cold air when stopped at lights or idling and warm air out of the ducts when accelerating.

If you are consistenly getting cool air, especially if your air blows cooler with colder outside temps, your engine's thermostat may be stuck open. In this case, the coolant is never getting the chance to heat up. If you are driving on the freeway and your engine temp gauge is always in the low range, this could be another indicator of the problem.

The good news is that bleeding the cooling system and replacing the thermostat are both cheap and easy jobs. When you bleed the cooling system, replace the thermostat too. It's a cheap fix.
