Coming from the floor of the cockpit or can you actually feel ambient heat all over?

If it's coming from the floor - either your driving habits have changed significantly after doing the 5 speed swap (i.e. higher rpm's etc), or you drilled some extra holes or removed some heat shields, or it's been a while since you've driven ur vert and are just feeling it now...

In any case, this is what happens to guys who run turbo setups - most of them either deal w/ it, heat wrap/coat the downpipes, or heat wrap the chassis, like so:

ThermoTec Heat Wrap

You can get a smaller section for cheaper, this was just the first result I found.

Seriously tho -rj-, "SEARCH NOOB!"

my driving style is very non agrerssive, shift at 2.5 to 3, and from what Kristine says, she can feel it on the pass side too. i didnt drill any unnecessary holes, the only one i did was the for the clutch mc.

im gonna try the insulation stuff first and ill get back to you guys, i just need to replace my wheel bearing lol, and yea i probably shoudve searched first, i was just lazy i guess lol

Feeling from passenger side as well sounds like the heat is coming from the transmission then (turbo guys only have issues on the driver floor - passenger floor is like before).

Perhaps the 5-speed you have is just running hotter than other 5 speeds? Maybe low on transmission oil/fluid? The heat shield should take care of it.

And just for completeness sakes, did you install the 5speed transmission boot thingy that goes on the inside of the car below the shifter boot? Mostly to prevent transmission fluid smell in the cabin.

RJ - i have the same problem you do, and i also have a 5spd swap. Most of my heat is coming through the shifter though, like onosqv said i am missing the boot that goes under the visible shift boot and connects to the floor. My entire counsol gets hot and i can see the transmission when i take it off, sound familar?

that one. i'm pretty lost beyond that as to why a stock car would generate that much heat that you can feel it inside the cabin daily driving.

Do you have the heat shield on your catalytic converter? I removed mine, and the tunnel was always warm.

all the hot air being blown away from the radiator is getting blown under the car, this piece covers a pretty big hole under the counsol. not to mention the ambiant trans heat aswell.
