So I was driving the vert arond SF when I noticed that there was heat coming the area where the transmission/ driveshaft sits...so it's the area between the drivers and passenger seat. Anyone get that also? The fluids are full also. But other than that problem, every thing else was pretty okay...just have to soften the coilovers so i don't bounce on every freakin crack on the road.

yeah i notice that my transmission gets kinda warm if i drive my car for like more than an hour straight. mayb yours gets hotter quicker from the inclines/declines you put your transmission though driving in SF, dunno though.

oh and also i dunno if it makes a difference, but i did the transmission fix where you unplug one of the connectors from the enine bay. so i dunno if not being ontrolled by the electronic transmission puts a burden on the transmission...but it's kinda relieving to hear that it might be a normal occurence.

You should have center console installed in that area. Do you have it? Do you have a thick rubber boot for the shifter?

You guys do realize your exhaust runs right through there too, right?

Yes, cat is right below the hump on the driver's side. Yeah, maybe that's it.

hahaha, yup, I noticed a big difference in cabin temp. through the center console / shifter bezel when I swapped over to an RB motor and got a 3" exhaust.

i've heard about the exhaust being there and with you saying it also, but it does seem hotter than any other car i've driven...as in i've never noticed any heat in other cars before so i guess it just weirded me out...i guess i don't have to turn on the heater anymore

when i first got my car it was swapped to 5spd. but the center where the shifter was was wide open. i didnt have a boot or that rubber seal. and like it was mentioned before after driving for an hour or so it gets hot. plus the exhaust is right there. it was pretty much open to the elements. but once i got the the rubber and the boot. it took care of a lot of the heat you're probably experiencing. hopefully that's the case for you as well.

I know when I was working for the Nissan dealership there was a service bulletin going around on automatic transmission coolers would deteriorate with time and quit transferring heat like they were supposed to, I would seriously seriously consider adding an inexpensive aftermarket transmission cooler you can get on a lot of the auto parts stores and you should only need a small to medium-sized one make a big difference but the number one thing that kills automatic transmission is cooking them they do not last like that, this may not fix your entire problem but at all sure help your transmission out that transferring the heat out of the fluid
