Heat/AC problems

My 2003 Nissan Pathfinder Heat/AC is acting up. When in AC mode it only works at the lowest temperature, when you raise it 1 degree it starts blowing full hot. Mechanic has been scratching his head on this one. It worked fine till had the motor and transmission were replaced. Anyone else had this problem?

The mechanic forgot to hook up the in vehicle sensor when they put the panel back on under the steering wheel. Ran self diagnostic test through the AC controller which guided us to the problem. Cost the mechanic plenty in labor replacing other parts that were not needed. He lucked out though because I still had the donor car I purchased to take the motor and transmission out of. So no parts expense on his part. My son and I fixed the problem in about 10 minutes.
