In another post it was suggested that some type of electronic listening apperatus be made to listen for knock. So, I began to think, why not mount an inexpensive stethascope with a longer rubber hose which can be purchased at the local hardware store. Fasten the diaphram part to the motor and run the hose through the fire wall, then you could drive and listen at the same time.

Probably a good idea to dampen the sound a bit so you don't go deaf if your motor blows.

Man, I would pay to see that happen to someone. Can you visualize a guy listening with a stethascope and then KABOOM!

Cool site but why does it have to be electronic?

I'm thinking one like this but with more hose.

I like the A/F gauge.

What would be funny is using a doctor type and blowing up the motor. It would sound like cannon fire right in the ear.

Actually, I'll take it through the fire wall.

You need a helmet to mount this to, then make the tube just a little short so your head has to stick out the window to hear it, then of course you'll need goggles so you can drive...

youd probably have problems keeping the mic end on the block, as the motor tends to shake a lot. Thats why knock sensors thread right into the block.
