So I have one 240 and its my daily driver. Regardless of me having built the ka, and my dreams of wanting a turbo every day, I'd like to get a headunit. I don't want a screen or anything like that but just a nice good quality head unit that has a nice clean look to it also. I had an alpine back in my bimmer and wasn't too impressed with it. Maybe it was the speakers but I managed to blow tons of speakers with my bass on -5. Any suggestions from personal experience? Not, I heard of a guy that liked his sony xplod or whatever, id like some quality here too.

Alpine for me. I have their CDA-105 or something like that. Great headunit but the ipod cable gets dust in it sometimes and you have to blow on it to get it out. Otherwise, works great, looks great, sounds great.

Stereo is my specialty sir. One might say... I am all that is stereo. In any case I vouch for a Mcintosh MX406, best quality your can get. Or if you don't feel like spending $900-1400 on a headunit you could get an alpine 9886-9887, if you're looking for something with internal amps and time-correction capabilities go with the 9887. But the best bang for your buck if you're not a total stereo nut like me is the 9886. the end.

Edit: did you have amps for your speakers? alpines usually are fine with bass at -2 but if you were underpowering the speakers you can blow them pretty easily.
