As far as I know, HUD windshield is like $500+ from Nissan. Crazy...positronone wrote:I went to a Nissanparts website and asked about getting a new patch of whatever that silver material is for my HUD and they said that it is in the glass and that you cannot buy that OEM piece standalone. So whatever you come up with that works...let me know!
Yeah, sorry. It's $1500, not $500.DeXteR wrote:when i was looking it was around $1500 list price for HUD windscreen!
it's not just us. cars are drugs. they get you high. they take you low. you can't ever get enough either way. they take your money. they take your life.waitn4sno wrote:Originally, I thought I would keep it stock, but the more I read about you guys, the more I want something unique.
I'm in that position right now. My KA is running on 3 cylinders, and I think #3 injector is out. OUCH!!!DeXteR wrote:they take you low.
I didn't do the windshield swap...the PO had it replaced. In my state (TN) it is the law that your insurance company has to provide a new windshield if you get a crack, fisheye, or major scratch, etc...so it is free to get a new one. Had I been the one that was around when the new one was being installed, I would have demanded the HUD window. He was like 16 or 17, so he probably didn't know, didn't care, etc.waitn4sno wrote:Carcrazyguy:When you replaced the W/S, did you try any HUD film, or tint to help the daylight display problem. When you made the swap, how long did it take you to do the RE&RE?BTW: Thanks for your comments.
Chances are most cars that are up to 18 years old (as these are) will have a windshield replacement by now. On the same lines, I would bet nobody is gonna give some astronomical price for the HUD specific window when $200-300 will buy you a new (aftermarket) windshield, installed.positronone wrote:Apparently the windshield in this car was damaged and replaced at some time because the little HUD foil thing is gone and there are new seals on the windshield but even without that foil it stills shows pretty good.
