I am having the sr swap done and it is all complete but they seem to not be able to get my heads up display working. I can't seem to figure out why it won't work. Please help. Any info will be helpful. Thanks.

It is a 92 240sx se coupe. It had the auto to manual swap done as well as the sr20det swap. all the other instruments work just not the digital speedometer with the heads up display. the shop thinks it might be the fact that it was changed from an automatic to a manual. Plus the clip for the SR did not have a heads up display to begin with. any help/info would be nice. thanks.

It doesn't matter if the clip had the HUD option or not. But be sure they actually plugged in your speed sensor? Does it even light up or not at all?

I am not sure, but what would be the problem for both. Also the speed sensor is connected.

The shop who did the swap should have been able to hook all that up, it does not matter if the SR came with the HUD or not, make sure that you hook up the speed sensor and all the wires in the back may have to be rewired, good luck

Your cluster is probably broken. Those HUD's are not the most reliable things ever. They break a lot.

out of the many s13s in my area of kentucky about 12 or 13 i have only seen 1 HUD that actually works. I am an auto mechanic and researched this problem and found out that it is expensive to fix (parts that is). Even if you do fix it, it is probably going to go out again. I'd recommend converting over to regular analog speedo.

does the back lighting in the cluster work? what about other interior lighting? if no, it may be the time control unit, found in the drivers kick panel. the hud gets its power from the cluster, if your speedo works but not the hud, it may not have power. be very specific as to what works, and what doesn't and it is easier to diagnose. i swapped a analog cluster in and never looked back.
