So far this is what i have found out looking into doing my heads.

Removing the heads is not so hard, but removing everything from the heads is not so easy. A tool is required to remove the springs. As far as cleaning the heads up for a rebuild, you can buy the equipment for doing that for like $50. Building the heads is a little tricky though, there is a different tool used than the one to remove the springs. The tool has gauges on it that measure the pressure of the spring or w/e it is, and i don't have one and you have to really know what your doing. So.... I am not doing my heads my self as intended. I will have them built for like $200-$300 at a shop that builds heads. Heres the list of the upgrades i am going with.

Brian Crower Stage2 camsBrian Crower stainless steel valves (stock size)Brian Crower titanium springs and retainersCometic Head gaskets (stock bore)ARP L19 head studs

This is going to run me about $2000-$2500 in parts. I am buying piece by piece before i tare into the heads. For some of you on a budget this might sound like a bright idea. The intake valves and exhaust valves are sold separately, which will make it easier to buy little at a time. I am going to buy the most expensive stuff first, like the cams and the studs, so the others come faster. Now the numbers, with the cams built they are rated with a higher RPM range due to the cams and the valve train built to withstand it. Should be able to hit 7300-7500 redline instead of 6600. The plan is to boost the car later and with higher RPMs i can stay in boost longer, thus building more power. As far as gains from the heads, could see great numbers, i have been told easily 20-30 and as high as 50 hp increase at the wheels. I really don't know what to expect. I think i am going to invest in an AccessPORT before anything for my heads though. And possibly the Cobb stage2 suspension set up (good for the money). Any input or ideas are welcome, mostly just filling everyone in on my plans and maybe sparking some idea's.
