Hey!
I'm new to the forum after just purchasing a used 2012 QX56.

I hope someone can help me diagnose the problem w/o having to go to the dealer.

Shame on me, but I didn't turn on the headlights during my test drive, it was after all the middle of the day, anyhow, the dealer says "bought as is" and of course, it's out of town, Nice right?

The headlights (xenon) will not turn on, the DRL's work, so do the fog lamps, at least the right one, left one is out.

I've opened the IPDM but do not see a relay designated for the headlamps.
Since none of the lights, low or high beam will turn on, it seems unlikely its all of the ballasts and lamps.

Can anyone help?????

Don't want to get screwed at the IFI dealership, have called for an appointment at a mechanic's shop specializing on the luxury brands.

the IPDM is a RELAY, not a "fuse panel" or "relay box". you didn't open the IPDM, you opened the relay box in the engine room.

There is a fuse compartment at the driver's door just on the side of the dash facing the door and also on the other side at the passenger footwell area.

the 12 do not have daytime running lights. i have a 12. there are little "eyebrow" looking lamps bu those are not considered DRL.

was the car in any accident? any aftermarket mods done? what does the carfax say? did you check the VIN to find out the cars history?

the headlamps could be indeed faulty but who's to know over the internet?

stop at a autozone or similar shop and have them do a code test at the obd port to see if any codes are present.

always check these cars out with a mechanic you trust. im sure you have read that or heard that before.

Thanks for the reply. Carfax was clean, all major services were completed.
The "eyebrow" yellowish is light is working as well as one of the fog lamps, suspect the other is a burned out lamp.

I was able to get the xenon's to work yesterday, by swapping the 15A fuses on "S" terminal board. So now High and Low beam xenon's function.
Of course, the fuse is the symptom, not the cause. Somewhere there was an electrical fault which caused the fuse to melt, that's the concern now.

I'm going to swap the eyebrow looking lights out with LED's, same for the fog lamps.
What are the forward facing two smaller lights in the headlight assembly?
"parking" lights?

I thought the two smaller lights were DRL's (daytime running lights), at least that's what they are referred to in the owners manual. Anyway, our 2013 JX35 was involved in an accident back in November on the left/rear of the vehicle. Since getting the vehicle back from the shop we had an issue with the passenger HID. Shop said it was the ballast, but now the light all of a sudden started working, but now the DRL's don't want to operate like they used to while the combo light switch is in Auto mode. The bulbs come on when parking lights are switched on. Anyone know of a setting to toggle on/off the DRL's? Fuse/relay location?
