the Ballast shorted the Harness that connects to the light bulbs and both light assemblies need to be replaced. This normally happens from water damage and there is no sign of water damage

How much is something like this cost?

That doesn't make a lot of sense. Did this diagnosis come from a dealer service department? You may need a second opinion.

It's highly unlikely that both your ballasts went bad at the same time. If it's true that a "short" occurred then check all fuses (that's why they're there). If you find a bad fuse and turning on the headlights blows the replacement, then start tracing. Disconnect one headlight at a time until you find the fault.

If indeed you needed to replace just the ballast, the part from Infiniti costs about $375 (for one). I'm sure there are alternative manufacturers you could use.

In any case, do some more diagnosing before you start throwing on new parts.

Speaking of headlights, any easy links on how to adjust headlamp levels.

My car had a front end collision. Next to nothing on the Volvo...7 grand of damage to my car! And they did not get the lamp correctly set.....
