So a few times now, after parking the car outside and locking/closing the doors, the headlights will both start flashing. It's not usually immediate, it usually kicks in a few minutes after I leave the car. There isn't any noise like an alarm, just the blinking lights.

Does anyone know if this is part of the factory security system? The PO had a Viper alarm/remote start installed but it wouldn't stop going off so I removed the controller (brain), but all the wiring is still in it. The thing was wired into everything so I didn't wanna mess anything up. Any ideas??

Um. Yeah. Might have had your horn disconnected from the factory alarm system with the Viper system. I'd bet just about anything it's your hood latch sensor.

If you wanna test the alarm and see if the horn works, lock the door with the window rolled down, and wait for the security light to go off, then reach in and unlock the door and open it. That will trigger the alarm. If it's just flashing lights, you've found your culprit.

One problem... my horns don't work lol

But I'll still test this to see if the lights start flashing. Thanks Ace!

Is the security light supposed to flash consistently with everything shut and locked? Because mine does

Nope. Supposed to flash quickly with the door open, and go solid when you lock it. Should go off after about 60 seconds. When it's flashing, that means there's a switch signalling an open compartment. Which, if the interior lights aren't on, is why it makes me think hood latch switch.

EDIT: When it goes from solid to off, that's when the system is officially "armed."

I'll have to do some checking shutting doors and stuff. When you say the hood latch sensor, you mean the one attached to the driver side shock tower right?

I haven't had time today to really check it (plus its raining on/off) but I noticed that I can get the security light to go solid sometimes. It seems like how I close my door affects it. When I close it a little harder it seems to go solid more often.

Could be the door sensor then. Which is a bit harder to replace.

it seems like my flashers are shorting out my dims or normal lights, from what ive read it could be the dimmer switch or maybe even just a relay/wiring issue. any ideas?

Mine was definitely related to the factory security system. I removed the security box and haven't had a problem since. Since mine didn't honk anyway it was pretty useless
