Ok, so I pulled it outta there, and noticed that there is a pin missing in the largest harness, but maybe its supposed to be that way. Anyways, I tried pulling it outta that plastic case, and cracked an edge just a little trying to do so. Any tips for pulling it out of the case without breaking it? Maybe I'll just have to break it open and tape it back together..

I'm having a similar issue only my drivers side drl won't come on. Everything else works fine, changed bulbs to no avail, wonder if this will work.

It's probably the module too. Break it open somehow and touch up the solder joints with an iron.
Either that or go to wrecking yard and pick one up out of a junker for $25. That's what I did.

Cracked/Broke that plastic box open and re-soldered anything that looked like it might need it. Duct taped the box back together, plugged it back in, and everything is working again. Thanks for the tip!

I've been reading the posts on the headlight problem here. My 2000 Xterra just started having similar problems. High beams work and DRL's work fine but no low beams on both sides. Bulbs look good & pulled the light switch out and appears fine (no broken pieces). I didn't completely disassemble it though. Pulled the DRL control module apart and cant see anything wrong but "it is a circuit board", so I'm going to try change it out. Based on the posts I've been reading here it seems like the obvious culprit. The part in Canada is $94 +tax from the dealer. If anyone has any info to contribute it is appreciated.

Hey, I've got the same problem (2003 Pathfinder LE - Canada) - my low beams (both sides) not working but everything else fine... I know it's not the bulbs. After reading this thread and doing a little deductive reasoning I'm thinking it is most likely the control module because their is a fuse for each side correct? And I've also heard it's rare for the switch or wiring to fail. Anyway, ideas? I've heard troubleshooting this C.M. is a pain in the arse. lol

It's more than likely the DRL module.
I had this problem a few years ago and posted here (somewhere) that a new (to me) DRL module fixed the problem.
Dealer price for a new one was ridiculous, so I went to my local wrecker and pulled one out of a Pathfinder for $25.00.
I also posted somewhere in this thread about cracking the module open and re-soldering most of the connections. Try that first.

I had a similar problem. My headlights (one or both) on the QX4 would flicker and about 1/3 of the time go out after turn signal cancels out. Scary thing to happen at night. I removed the headlight switch, took it apart and cleaned it with rubbing alcohol. The connections were all covered in grease (from the steering column I assume). No more flickering and headlights work fine now.

I live in South Africa. I think perhaps the Nissan 1400 Champ was only made here. I cant find any reference to a 1400 champ on this forum.

Never the less... I have the same problem and it's really getting me down. Both my low beam headlights stopped working at the same time, but my high beams work fine. I cannot for the life of me figure out what is wrong. I tested the globes and they are fine. There is no beige box that I can see in a champ 1400 (a small pickup type thing. Here we call it a Bakkie).

Any suggestions?? Please ???

What other checks have you done to isolate the problem? Have you checked the switch, any relay's or fuses? Do you have a multi meter to check voltage and continuity? I'm not familiar with this exact problem or your abilities so I can only suggest basic electrical troubleshooting.

Hi all,
I have a 98 r50 Pathfinder, suffering the same problem, (no low beam, but have high beam) sometimes the left low beam does come on but never the driver's side, I have checked the globes and fuses, I also cleaned the contacts in the headlight switch, didn't fix it, so I changed it out for another one, nope..still no good, I'm at a loss, I also do not have drls...all ideas are welcome .

I posted a new thread about a similar issue with my 03' qx4 before I found this thread. Does the "main" bulb located behind the 3" round cover produce both hi and low beam? The drivers side bulb works. In the low beam setting it is on, in the hi beam setting it does not seem to change in intensity, but the bulb below it comes on. My original problem is this main bulb on the passenger side does not work. In the hi beam setting, the bulb below comes on like the drivers side. I have swapped fuses, relays, and ballasts, but get the same outcome. Not sure if this is an important point, but when turning the lights on and off, I can hear a short buzzing sound, like a small motor or something in the working drivers side headlamp assembly. I'm new to this forum, but I have learned a lot already. Thanks in advance for the help!
