Perhaps I'm not seeing something here... to me it just looks like 3 pictures of the same part in the same state taken at different light levels.

He took three pictures of one of his finished headlights. He painted the housing of them black, and if you look on yours its like a chrome. He has done the left one and has the right to finish. We are hoping he will make a tutorial on how to do this.

I'd like to see before and after pics, as well as know if this will affect the light output or the visibility much.

How did you get the assembly off and then sealing it back to prevent water from coming in it again? If there's a sure way to mod these without chancing losing th e seal easily I'd love to do this to my car too!

Looks like maybe you used some Krylon black fusion on the plastic?

Anyway looks amazing and look forward to seeing how you did it

I agree, you need to post a picture with them on the car. They look awesome though!

I plan to cover the reflector in blue reflective vinyl, that way I'll still have a reflector, but it'll blend in.

(wonders is boso is even watching this anymore)

But I've solved the problem of getting them back together: Clear silicone. umm... the same stuff they used... ;oP Josh has next week off so we're going to tackle the headlights (I hope I don't regret this) and I'll let you guys know... we're going to attempt acetone to loosen the seal...

But Boso, some pics would be awesome!

Be very careful if you're using acetone not to get any on the lens, it will etch the plastic badly.

will note, thanks EV... everything else would totally eat the plastic, but we used acetone in the lab to clean our glassware and plasticware so I figured it wouldn't eat my lens... maybe if I get all my reports written and I can take the 4th off, that'll be my project for that day. ;oD but I'll definitely watch where it goes...

It looks like everyone else had to break a small part of the housing to get it open... eeep!

We'll see if I get to it before boso does... ;oD

(look really close at the pics at top... looks like a little of the black housing is missing from the "turn signal" corner...

This mod sort of reminds me of the Fit because their lights are the same color as the cars. oh Well I mean if your Versa was black...(mine is)

well well. sorry guys, been soo busy. took the right side light out finally this morning, but had to do a bunch of other stuff, and ended up having to put it all back together. until i start documenting that one, ill explain a little.

nissan uses black silicone to seal the lights, and they use a HUGE bead of it, that is super-inaccessable. silicone is basically impervious to ANYthing. i contemplated all the ways to get it apart, but realized that even if i got the bead apart, putting it back together would be horrible with all the old silicone. so! i broke out the dremel and basically cut the entire housing from the lens. the thing is, i had to cut behind the sealing point. it took a few hours of precise dremel work, but it eventually popped open easily. sanded the chrome and painted it with flat krylon. putting it back together isnt too bad, just set the pieces back together, and seal the gap back up with black silicone sealant.

its not really a simple procedure by any means, but hey, modding is hard right???
