Alright.. I was wondering if I take my headlight cover off.. it's plastic... and try to sand the inside of the covers to get ridd of the lines and groves adn such... do you guys think it will work??? I know I'll have to wet sand it by hand... what grit sand paper should I use and will it come out looking like clear plastic without scratch marks from the sandpaper???

the reason I am asking is, I am getting a pair of projectors off a BMW and I alreay have some HID's I got off my friend but when I put the projector in my housing, it will look good but I'm afraid the groves in the headlight cover will change the beam pattern a little...

so I thought of just sanding it flat... but don't know if it will actualy work....

thanks.. I like them too... I'm keeping the whole headlight the way it is.. I'm just going to fit the projector inside of the headlight housing without changing anything... cept making the plastic cover clear (with no marks..)

do you guys get what I'm trying to say?? If you don't, I can take some pic's and show them to you...

haha, anand, im trying this too...i would think the the sandpaper with some water would work fine to do that...but i would say do this...sand it with the smallest grit sandpaper walmart or parts store has (black/gray in color for those that dont know)...walmart even has sanding sponges u can soak...and after u do that... use a chrome polish like u would with getting the yellow off of the lens....just keep using chrome polish (since its an abrasive polish) until its gets where u want it...i know its easier said then done, but thats wat im gonna try...o btw, anand...where are u gettin ure BMW projectors and how much? u dont have to use E46 M3 projectors, all the 3 series Bi-xenons have those self leveling projectors...

I got them from a local juink yard... the headlights are no use but the guy took the projectors out and is selling them to me for $110. I've seen them go for upwards of $175+ so I think I got a good deal... with those and the HID kit that I have from my friend it should be awesome.. now I'll just have to wet sand the inside of the headlight cover and make it clear so the beam pattern is what it should be from the projector.. I thought it would be taking me 6 months to do but I found all the parts for a resonable price so it should be done much sooner than that... I am going on vacation next week..

but as soon as I come back on Aug 8th... I'm getting right on this and getting it done... probably the weekend after the 8th... Cuz I will need about 2 days to actually do it.. I want to take my time and not rush you know...do it right... I'll take plenty of pictures so anyone who eants to do it after me will have something to show them how...

btw.. I didn't get bi-xennons.... those projectors are huge and I don't know if they will fit inside our headlight housing os I just got the regular BMW projector... although I don't know what series it's out of since the junk yard only had the headlights sitting there...

i think some company should make a glass housing. that way you;d just have to windex it. as for scratching, like 240sx2nr95 said, use the smallest grit, like 1000 or something close. the smaller the less noticable the lines will be, if any at all. and yes, take your time. i did a have a$$ job trying to buff a metal scabbord and it turned out looking like sh*t
