Headlight relay in Z31

My 1985 300zx Turbo has no high beams, and good fuses, so I suspected a relay - but it doesn't appear there is one in the cluster under the hood. Does anyone know where it is? Otherwise I'm guessing the switch, but high beam clicks into place OK [but gives darkness]

headlight switch, it normally effects low beams but might well be the cause of you issue.

I have discovered which color wires from the HL switch control high beam, so may check them if I can get into those connectors!

There is no headlight relay.

The common solution for headlight problems is to replace or clean the switch.

As usual, Az bum giving "BUM" data. No headlamp relay? So, what the hell is the black 5 prong relay in the hidden compartment (next to fusible links/little plastic cover/battery HAS to be removed) that energizes when the low beam is switched on? I know this is a old thread, but man...perhaps that Arizona sun is getting to you. Can't think BEYOND the FSM. sheesh!

Wrong one?. However, schematic on page EL-35 shows "Headlamp Relay" , so , ofcourse, there IS one....

Actually..the black one in the hidden compartment is the "uphold relay". FSM EL-191/ 64E = Headlamp Relay.
