headlight question

ok i my headlights come up but not down so i searched and searched and they all say cut the brown wire or hook up a separte wire but i want it to the stock button.....i take auto tech in college and we narrowed it down to a bad wire or short....everthing else works no problem so my question is how to i get it back to normal and i no someone is gonna say trace the bad wire but i need help ive been wanting this fixed for quite some time thanks guys

It is most likely the contacts in the switch for the headlights. There was a write up on this site regarding it, but all the photo's got removed from it so now it is useless...Maybe someone else could be more helpful though.
