headlight question

One of my HLights went out last night. WHen I pulled it and bought another- it was a highbeam light. But they are the ones on normally. So which ones are supposed to be the low beam and which the high beam?I ask becuase, when highbeams are turned on-- they just light up the road right infront of the car. Nothing further down the road.....

So which light in the headlight setup- the inner or the outer is the low beam? I took a 9005 out of the socket. I think the ones in the outer light are 9006? Any clues? I get flashed for highbeams all the time. But only 2 are on. When I turn on the highbeams- all 4 come on. But it doesn't get brighter down the road- just infront of the car.

The high beams need to be aimed.the outer lights are the low's

Outers are your low beam and the bulb number is 9006.Inners are your hi beam and the bulb number is 9005.
