Guys, I have an s13 with the standard pop-up lights and I'm having a few problems with 'em. First, when I turn on the headlights using the stalk, the pop ups do not open but the headlights come on. The housings only open when I push the dash-mounted headlight button. Not a big problem but it's a bit annoying.

Second, when it's cold (like 60 degrees or less) outside and I use my headlights, they refuse to go back down. I do not have this problem when the weather is a bit warmer so I'm a bit puzzled. I understand that the headlight system on the s13 has multiple relays, switches, etc. but if one of them was bad, wouldn't the system malfunction all of the time? I was also thinking that maybe some of the contacts were bad but if that's the case, why does the temperature (not rain, snow, fog, or other high moisture conditions) affect the system?

I know that the most exhaustive thing to do would be to go through the system from top to bottom but I was wondering if others have had similar problems and if there's a known spot in the circuit that causes these problems before I start tearing things down.

Thanks for any and all assistance you can provide!-kouki

when its cold and your lights dont pop up tap on your relays in the box under the hood. as far as them not poping up with the head light switch that is probably bad contacts in the head light switch.

912 tap on your down (retract)relay when your turn your head lights off
