Headlight Question: Halogen, HID, etc.

I changed out my interiors to LED and now I am thinking about matching my Fogs and Headlights. I have a 2006 M35 and I found by researching the Forum that there are different headlights in the models some HID some halogen. Since I am cheap I wanted to see what the most inexpensive way to do this was and I figured I needed to first figure out what my stock set up is. Does anybody know how I might go about figuring out what my OEM Lights are? Is there a Vin decoder for this or do I just need to take the lights out and figure it out that way? Any help on this would be appreciated.

Nope no AFS in the Vin. Thanks for your help! Now to research some cheap Halogen Upgrades or to switch out completely. Thanks!!

AFS isn't going to be in your VIN dude. LOL.

AFS stands for Adaptive Front Lighting System. It is the system that moves your headlights just slightly when you are turning. If you have this, you have AFS/HID. If you don't, you may still have HID but you probably don't.

A stock HID bulb will be white. A stock halogen light will be yellowish.

Ha woops. I just had the chance this week to look up in the owners manual what afs was because i have it and was wondering what the button was for. Should of picked up on that one. So I do have HID. Cool guess ill research HID bulbs. I was looking at fogs this week and found LED bulbs that do not require ballast or upgrade. You know if anybody has put LED in there fogs? I dont think they would do much for vision but would match the headlights and interior better. Thanks again for your help and clarification.

LED bulbs are strictly looks. They provide 0 functionality.

And yes, if you have the AFS button, you 100% have HID.
