Headlight Problems

The other night when I got home I thought my light patterns looked a little odd so I got out and checked and my right headlight is out. But then when I turn on my brights my right headlight comes on bright and my left headlight goes out; however, after a few minutes of the bright being on that headlight will just go out completely and I will have to switch back to dim. Can anyone tell me what is causing this and maybe suggest a way to fix it? I thought it was just the bulbs but I don't think it is since that one comes back on on bright and the other one goes out. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

buy new headlights.. there around 15-20 bucks each.. change'em & see if it gets fixed.. if not just return them back...
