headlight problems..1989 240sx

Alright I have a bit of an odd problem. My headlights turn on at least but here are the problems:

-First off they won't retract. Turning them on/off doesn't work, neither does that other button to the left of the steering wheel.

-When switching to my highbeams the lights just turn off completely.

-My lowbeams work fine, but it seems like they are actually on highbeams. I thought it was an alignment issue but the bottom adjustment screw is as far as it can go.

I had those crappy ebay headlights before and the problems started when I had those. I thought a replacement was in order so I purchased sylvania silverstars, but the problems still continue. This is for a 1989 240sx...any ideas? Thanks in advance!

when you did the ebay swich was there any wiring slicing going on? i've found that nissan installs fail safes for everything. have you installed anything around your steering collum recently? My headlights when I have my motors connected just keep going and going and going so I just leave them up at all times. Its possible that some wires might have gotten crossed some where.
